June 2008 Progress Report
Have a set schedule for my writing time.
I
managed during June to kinda-sorta-maybe have something resembling a
writing schedule, albeit a minimalist writing schedule. I tried,
most evenings, to write from 8-9 p.m. I also took a notepad with
me whenever I took the kids to the park, and I sometimes wrote a few
things there.
Get organized about the arrival of The Pout-Pout Fish.
There will always be
additional outreach things to learn and do, but during June I felt a
little less precariously perched on the learning curve. I'll
probably take this item off of my future progress reports, as I think I
can declare it "done."
Put myself on a
regular schedule for updating my web site.
Well, I'm doing it right now,
aren't I? Actually, the way I'm currently managing things is to
use my site for the more "stable" things (that is, info that won't
change very often) and my blog for more current/timely materials and
info. I've gotten pretty good about keeping my blog current, so
I'll count that as partial credit for this goal. The cobwebs on
my web site we'll overlook for the time being.
Go through
my pile of notebooks and sort/organize what’s in them.
[This one I deleted last month, declaring it an unrealistic goal for this year.]
Work on a regular basis on the following writing
projects:
- Grand Canyon.
Continued to do here-and-there work on this, with my plan being
to use my August writing retreat as a way to fully re-enter this
project.
- Face It.
Continued to work on this. April and I are approx. 85% done with our first draft.
- One picture book manuscript per month. Wrote a new rhyming pb ms.
- Moms Rock lyric parodies. Did a couple of these.
Do a crossword puzzle
daily.
Eh, did a couple during the course of the month.
Try to stay on top of my email.
I refuse to comment on my progress on this goal until someone defines what I meant by "stay on top of."
Make it to 80% of critique group sessions.
Since I'm writing this
progress report late in July, I'm not entirely sure if the critique
group session I'm recalling was June or July. I think I missed
one but made it to the other. I don't think I'm at 80% cumulative
for the year, though. :(
