July, August, September 2008 Progress Report
Yeah, I know -- it's
October as I write this, and I'm only now commenting on progress during
July. Not to mention the fact that I'm once again making use of
the lazy-person's-approach combined progress report, covering three
months at once. May I use as my excuse for my lack of updates the
fact that I completely forgot about my writing goals?
Probably not a good thing to admit, but it is actually true.
The last several months have been even more crazybusy than usual,
and things like keeping up on my web site or remembering the fact that
I set public writing goals have gotten postponed or fallen off my
radar completely.
But here goes with a catch-up of late summer and early fall progress.
Have a set schedule for my writing time.
Eh, no.
Get organized about the arrival of The Pout-Pout Fish.
Previously declared "done."
Put myself on a
regular schedule for updating my web site.
Go through
my pile of notebooks and sort/organize what’s in them.
[This one I previously deleted, realizing it was an unrealistic goal for this year.]
Work on a regular basis on the following writing
projects:
- Grand Canyon.
Completed a revision late summer. More work to be done, but I like the direction the revision is taking.
- Face It. April and I finished our draft, and began revisions. Hurrah!
- One picture book manuscript per month. Wrote one new rhyming and one new non-rhyming.
- Moms Rock lyric parodies. Didn't do any this stretch.
Do a crossword puzzle
daily.
Nope.
Try to stay on top of my email.
Got a little better about this, though with periodic relapses.
Make it to 80% of critique group sessions.
Book-related events
have cut into my critique group attendance. But I did spend a
marvelous weekend in August with my writing group, for a writing
retreat.
